True endo specialists are few and far between, but you want to look for one who does excison surgery. What questions are out there?

I guess I got lucky when choosing a specialist. I asked for a referral from my gyno because it just wasn't working out with that dr. Dr. Lin actually works at Seattle Reproductive Medicine so I guess their true focus is infertility but  he works with endo patients too. His first comment after hearing my story was that I needed excision surgery to remove the endo that was causing my endo. This was kind of a relief since my original gyno was refusing to operate on it (She said it was too deep). Interesting choic of pic for the group page by the way.

It is great that you got to see a good doctor first. Most women are not that lucky. I had surgery three times with a regular doctor before realizing I needed excision. How are you feeling now since your excision?

The pain and bowel issues decreased about 50% for me. The hard challenge for me seems to be finding the right combo of hormones to keep symptoms controlled. People need to know that it takes at least 3 or 4 months to feel more "normal". I was taking naps right after work for about a month just to get some energy back.

That is correct,  it does take a few months to feel back to normal. I took 2 weeks off work after mine, then went back after that. However, in my case it has worked like a charm. I did excision with the hope of getting pregnant with no fertility treatments, and it worked.

The excision, if done correctly can get rid of IBS issues, IC and bladder issues, fertility problems, and many other issues.

Is the excision a out patient surgery? How long did it take you to recover? what type of scar does it leave on your body? Do they go through your belly button as well? I've had two surgeries already and neither have eased my pain long than 6 months.  Im to the point where I want to have my uterus removed already.  Half of the month I feel like I cant even function.  I just want my life back. I came across an article about excision surgery today and then saw your post.

Did your insurance cover the surgery? right now im having trouble finding a good healthcare provider that will cover all my needs for endo. Have you had any luck?

I may be so late. But Dr. Kanayama (New York Endometriosis Center) or  Dr. Albee (Center For Endometriosis Care -Atlanta,GA). I had exicisions done by them both. Great doctors...

the money is the biggest sacrafice but they work with you and your insurance may cover more than you think. Oh and Crystal, my recovery for this 2nd excision has been great. its been 2 weeks and im good. just got my first period but aside from that i've been good. no bloating/swelling. incisions are healed. im good!
